Covid-19 Protocols

Event Details:

Dates: May 3 – May 8, 2021
Venues:

  • Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Drive, Coral Springs FL 33065
  • DS Sports Plex, 3650 SW 10 th Street, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442

Pre-Event:

  • All players/coaches will sign a Covid-19 Release Form during players registration, which starts Monday, May 3 rd , before they will be allowed to play or coach a game.
  • Communications to teams will stress the importance of maximizing mitigation efforts leading up to the event.
  • Game schedules will allow time for benches, tables, and balls to be sanitized between games.

Vaccinations:

  • It will not be a requirement to be vaccinated to participate in the 2021 Masters Basketball Association National Tournament. We encourage as many players, coaches, tournament staff and spectators as possible to get vaccinated but it not a requirement.

Mandatory Face Covering:

  • Staff, Spectators: Face coverings must be always worn over the nose and mouth while inside both gymnasiums, including the lobby. No exceptions.
  • Teams, Coaches, Officials: Face coverings must be worn when entering and exiting the gymnasium. Face coverings are not required by players during warm-ups and by players and officials when playing/officiating in the game. Coaches and players on the bench must wear face covering and social distance themselves from each other as much as possible.
  • Spectators must practice social distancing while watching games in the stands.

Team Protocols:

  • Teams must arrive at the gym dressed and ready to play their game. Locker rooms will not open for use by players.
  • Teams should not show up to the gymnasium until (1) hour before their scheduled game to help control gym capacity.
  • Gymnasium capacity will be limited to 300 players, coaches, spectators, and tournament staff so teams will need to leave shortly after completion of their games should we reach capacity.
  • Warm up balls will be kept separately by team for each game.
  • Game ball will be sanitized at the beginning and at half time of each game.
  • Mass-consumption water coolers will not be available for this year’s tournament. PLEASE bring your own water/drinks for hydration.
  • Basketballs will be made available for shoot around time in the gym and game time warm-ups.

Gym Traffic Flow:

  • Entering the Coral Springs Gym – teams, and their spectators, will enter through the North side double doors the gymnasium. Temperature checks will occur prior to entry.
  • Exiting Coral Springs Gym – ALL participants, teams, and their spectators, must exit through the South side double doors of the gymnasium upon completion of their game or at gym capacity.
  • At the Coral Springs Gym, tournament staff and officials will enter and exit through the north side single door to the tournament office.
  • Entering and exiting DS Sports Plex all players, spectators, staff, and officials will enter and exit through the main front doors of the facility per signage. Temperature checks and wristbands will be issued to spectators upon entering the gym.

Set-Up, Signage, Sanitation:

  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the gym entrances and the scorer’s table. Players are encouraged to bring their own supply.
  • Signage will be posted on all courts concerning wearing masks, using hand sanitizer frequently and practicing social distancing.
  • Bench seating, scorer’s table and balls will be sanitized between games.
