Masters Basketball always brings fond memories. I first started getting involved in Masters Basketball in the early 90s. I remember playing against Mike Phelps, Stan White, Joe Brickner and James Payne, who still are regular players in the Masters Basketball National Championship 25 years later. Once a year we gather, compete and have fun. I think one of the best things about Masters Basketball is the opportunity to play against and meet players/teams from all around the country and to test your ability against different players.

I have always found it to be a great time no matter whether I was playing, organizing a team or running the tournament. Back in the early days it was really hectic as I did all three. Still taking a little time out of your life to play, have fun competing but especially to seeing guys you haven’t seen in a year, to catch up with them is always special and I look forward to seeing all of you in May again this year.

Registration is moving along with teams in numerous divisions already entered. Remember early bird registration ends on March 4 and final registration concludes on April 1.

We have two host hotels, with one of the being new this year, listed on our website. The Marriott Resort Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Beach is for those of you who want to be out on the beach. The La Quinta is our long- time partner hotel that’s ideal for those of you who want to stay close to the gym. Both are great and have provided great discount pricing.

I look forward to seeing all of you in May.
