The 2017 Masters Basketball Association National Tournament has come to an end and I must say masters basketball is alive and well. We had an increase in teams and participants over the past few years. I hope all of you who were able to come to Coral Springs this year had a wonderful experience.

I’m close to wrapping up some final work from this year and then it’s onto planning for the 2018 tournament. The dates for the 2018 tournament are set for May 7-12.

I want to pass along a special thanks to Rick Pitino for being keynote speaker at the banquet. Everyone I spoke to immensely enjoyed his talk.

I also want to say a special thank you to all the Team Organizers. Without the Team Organizers there is no tournament. Thank you for all the work you do. Your efforts make the event special and I think that showed in this year’s tournament.

Team Organizers and participants will be receiving our annual survey by email very soon. Once again we look forward to reading your feedback as we begin planning for next year’s tournament.

We held our annual Board of Directors meeting during tournament week and one of the outcomes from the meeting was to form six committees – Banquet, Finance, MBA future planning, Operations, Sponsors and Team Recruitment. Each committee will be headed by a Board member. If you’re a passionate MBA supporter, (current / past participant or friend of the MBA) I hope you’ll consider helping us fill these committees spots. Paul Grady was one of the first people to step up and offer his help and he’ll be on the recruiting committee working with me to secure more teams in 2018.
